Albany Medical Center (AMC) is a 734-bed tertiary/quaternary referral center and northeastern New York’s only academic health sciences center. AMC offers the widest range of medical and surgical services in the region. The Bernard & Millie Duker Children’s Hospital at AMC includes a new state of the art 60 bed Level IV NICU. Albany Medical College, which is committed to training the next generation of doctors, scientists and other healthcare professionals, includes a biomedical research enterprise and the region’s largest physician practice with more than 450 doctors. AMC provides the community with the highest level of patient care across disciplines, while receiving regional, national and international recognition for high standards in patient care, education and biomedical research.
The Assistant Vice President (AVP), Medical and Behavioral Health Services is responsible for direct patient care and clinical operations for Medical and Behavioral Health Services. S/he assures that competent, compassionate patient care is uniformly provided to patients in inpatient, ambulatory, and community settings. The AVP develops, implements, and evaluates policies, programs and services consistent with the hospital’s mission and the department’s vision and philosophy. S/he provides direction and support to unit-based leadership and collaborates with other service and department leaders toward attainment of short- and long-term goals and objectives. As a member of the nursing executive management team, the AVP participates in the efficient and effective management of the department of nursing, and the development of its strategic plan. The AVP has responsibility for a total of 500 FTES. The AVP will report directly to the Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer.
A Bachelor’s and Master’s degree, one of which must be in Nursing. Current or eligible for NYS RN license.
Prior leadership experience in an AMC or complex teaching environment.
Seven to ten years of progressive leadership experience in nursing, involving Medical and or Behavioral Health.
Creates a collegial and collaborative environment among all members of the healthcare team.
Ability to communicate effectively, to lead change, engage others, and develop effective inter-professional teams.
Demonstrated ability to foster a customer focused culture that achieves quality, safety and clinical outcomes.
