Signature Healthcare, an independent, high performing community-based healthcare system in eastern Massachusetts, seeks a dynamic, visionary and accomplished healthcare quality and safety leader to join the organization as Vice President and Chief Quality Officer (CQO). Reporting directly to the system CEO, and in partnership with clinical leadership team, the CQO will provide passion and leadership to further strengthen the organization’s remarkable cultural commitment to quality and patient safety, and advance its journey to eliminate harm to patients.
Signature Healthcare (SHC) is an independent, non-profit, community-based health system based in Brockton, Massachusetts. Located approximately 20 miles south of greater Boston, SHC consists of Brockton Hospital, a full service 216-bed community teaching hospital, and Signature Medical Group, the system’s rapidly growing primary care and multispecialty group.
In recent years, SHC has assumed a leadership role in its region in the provision of high value, patient-centered care. Initiated and promoted by President and CEO, Kim Hollon, SHC’s Lean program standardizes processes and systems, measures outcomes, and engages staff in a continuous improvement culture emphasizing the development of “balanced score cards,” suggestion systems, and problem-solving methodologies. SHC also initiated and continues in the pursuit of a comprehensive culture of safety program, with the goal that patient safety become a hardwired, integral element of planning, resource allocation, and all aspects of day-to-day operations.
The CQO will provide passion and leadership to SHC’s journey to eliminate harm to patients. The CQO will oversee comprehensive quality and patient safety programs and ensure that SHC exceeds benchmarks for quality. The CQO will be the Signature Healthcare expert resource related to clinical safety, regulatory standards, and performance improvement. Supported by a Quality Resources Department with 23 FTEs, this individual will provide support and leadership for clinical quality performance metrics for focused service, quality, and patient safety performance. The CQO will create a sense of urgency, cultural commitment, and enthusiasm around the concepts of continuous improvement and process reliability.
Brockton, Massachusetts is located in Plymouth County, approximately 20 miles south of Boston, 40 miles northeast of Providence, 40 miles west of Cape Cod, and 200 miles northeast of New York City. With a population of approximately 100,000, the city of Brockton is the hub of a densely populated region, which features a diverse array of cities and towns, ranging from urban, to suburban, to rural in nature.
