The System CNO has overall accountability for providing leadership, direction, and strategy for operations associated with direct patient care activities, customer experience, and clinical education and development, including continuous improvement of nursing services and staff to meet the needs and expectations of those served by Virtua. Serving as a member of the executive leadership team at the system level, she/he is responsible for driving, supporting and modeling a service-oriented culture focused on employee engagement, quality, patient safety, service excellence, fiscal responsibility, and the overall patient experience. The CNO will also, in collaboration with other members of the leadership team, promote and develop new models of care delivery that will take into account the variety of settings patients will be served by Virtua team members.
Qualifications and Experience and Leadership Characteristics:
Bachelor’s degree in nursing and a graduate degree (MSN, MBA, MHA, etc.) is required.
10+ years of progressive experience in patient care leadership in a complex healthcare setting and over ten years in nursing/healthcare required.
Visionary and transformative leader – a creative and progressive thinker who will “think outside of the box” to establish a new course of action and then work with others to implement.
Successful experience in creating a culture of management by measurable goals and accountability in a clinical setting with a proven track record in improving service, improving outcomes, and effectively managing costs using measurable tools.
Track record of being a change agent.
Results and action-oriented leader.
Collaborator with excellent listening and discernment skills who promotes a partnership philosophy.
Superb communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills – able to relate well with individuals at varying levels at Virtua.
Experience working within the context of a system and a comfort level working within a matrixed environment. Union experience is a plus.
Must hold or be eligible to hold a license as a registered nurse in the State of New Jersey.
