The Director of Workforce Effectiveness serves a key role in the development, rollout and implementation of Sutter Health's Patient Care Workforce Effectiveness program. The program's goal is to identify appropriate use of patient care staff resources. The Director of Workforce Effectiveness position is critical to the success of the rollout and sustainability of the Workforce Effectiveness program and will play a key role in the analysis and improvement of critical work processes and associated staffing resource requirements. This position reports directly to the System Chief Nurse Officer.
Bachelor's degree in Nursing required
Master's degree; Nursing (MSN), Business (MBA), Healthcare Administration (MHA) or related field preferred.
Registered Nurse - State Licensure - RN required.
Basic Life Support Certification - BLS required.
Other national administrative or clinical certification through nationally recognized credentialing body required within 1 year of hire or eligibility required.
6-9 years experience as a senior nurse leader: for example, Chief Nurse Officer/Executive required. 6-9 years experience in patient care staffing operations up to and including centralized staffing office operations required. 6-9 years extensive experience collaborating with clinical leadership with a proven ability of driving ongoing performance improvement methods required. 3-5 years experience in a unionized labor market preferably in the California market required. 3-5 years strong experience providing leadership in the development and sustainment of continued learning required. 3-5 years experience with staffing systems such as Cerner ClairVia, ANSOS, or home grown required. 3-5 years of excellent computer skills; proficiency in all current business applications and software, including but not limited to MS Word, MS Power Point, MS Access, etc required.
Skills and Knowledge
Strong knowledge & experience implementing evidenced based nursing practices. Strong knowledge in lean methodologies for nursing leadership & practice. Strong knowledge of clinical operations, workflow, and procedures. Thorough knowledge of healthcare delivery systems, clinical practice, inter-professional practice, and documentation requirements is required. In-depth knowledge of evidence-based practice, performance improvement, lean methodologies and adult learning methodologies. Extensive knowledge of the evidence-based theories for leading and facilitating teams and clinical projects. General knowledge of practices necessary to advance healthcare quality and patient safety. Proven ability to plan, set, and accomplish multiple objectives, manage projects, and prioritize multiple, ongoing accountabilities. Demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships with healthcare executives, physicians, and clinical leaders across the organization. Demonstrated ability to gain cooperation and support through effective use of influence and persuasion is required. Demonstrated ability in evidence-based leadership development, coaching, and mentoring. Strong customer service focus in all decisions and actions. Strong analytic, negotiation, and problem solving skills are necessary. Proven ability to teach and consult with physician, nurses, and quality leaders regarding outcome data. Must be detail oriented, self directed and able to work with minimal supervision. Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, with the proven ability of working with individuals of diverse background and experience to create an effective working environment. Demonstrated ability in leading and facilitating inter-professional teams and clinical projects. Advanced level of computer and application competency including Excel, Power Point, Word, and relational database management systems.
