The Chief Nursing Officer/Vice President, Patient Care Services is the lead nursing executive responsible for setting the strategic vision for Nursing and Patient Care Services throughout the CHMS system. The Chief Nursing Officer/Vice President, Patient Care Services will provide nursing oversight, standards of practice and nursing leadership for the two-hospital system (CMH and OVCH) and the thirteen Centers for Family Health (CFH) Clinics. The VP/CNO serves as the CEO’s and executive leadership team’s chief advisor on nursing and patient care services. Key responsibilities for the VP/CNO include working with the statewide nursing leadership to define, design and drive implementation of policies and standards across CMHS. The VP/CNO carries responsibility for integrating the strategic plan of CMHS into all nursing and patient care services to ensure the quality and consistency for patients and staff across any and all services within CMHS. The VP/CNO will also provide continuous professional and leadership development opportunities for all levels of nursing leadership. In addition, the VP/CNO will be visibly connected to organizations and coalitions on a national level, while advising on nursing and patient care services as an industry leader. The Chief Nursing Officer/Vice President, Patient Care Services interfaces regularly with his/her peers in Finance, Operations, Human Resources, Planning and Managed Care, Marketing and Development, Community Relations, and the Medical Directors as well as with the medical staff leadership and the Board of Trustees.
Masters Degree in Nursing, Health Administration, Business Administration or other related field.
Current CA RN License
Ten (10) years progressive nursing/patient care services experience.
The Chief Nursing Officer/Vice President, Patient Care Services will possess a breadth of experience that reflects a broad understanding of nursing and patient care services from a variety of perspectives.
Experienced nursing executive with a proven track record in a multi-hospital system leading nursing and patient care transformation to reduce variation in care.
Knowledge of and experience with accountable care and insurance/population risk models.
Strong business, planning, communication and financial skill set with the ability to manage complex projects involving multiple stakeholders.
Strong demonstrated transformational nursing leadership skills (inspiring, problem solving, collaboration and communication across multiple organizations).
A blend of management skills with technical expertise proven by superior planning, decision-making, negotiation, nursing leadership, business and financial management skills/knowledge with a focus on adding value to the bottom line of the business to foster a preeminent healthcare environment.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills with all levels of employees, management and community leaders and a proven leader who is an effective, creative and visionary problem solver.
Demonstrated experience and excellence in coaching, collaborating, and influencing.
A proven leader of people who is able to recruit, develop and mentor a top-notch team capable of supporting future growth and has demonstrated nursing leadership in promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace and community.
An understanding of how to achieve quality and other key business results in a geographically diverse health system with many types of clinical business units, having sensitivity for and an understanding of academic disciplines and issues.
Previous experience in a large, complex medical center is required and previous experience working in a multi-site environment.
