POSITION INFORMATION: Responsible for providing leadership to a team of nurses. Acts as the administrator, educator, mentor, resource, facilitator, and champion of nursing services and other clinical research personnel to provide accountability to clinical/research services in patient care. Facilitates the continuity of quality patient care across research and non-research practice. Develops and implements strategic goals to meet the department’s needs which may include development and management of projects related to the department’s clinical, teaching, and research mission.
Education/Development. Actively maintains a team-based approach to patient care. Works collaboratively with clinical and educational resources to provide educational programs and resources related to care management for nursing, other clinical staff and leadership. Facilitates an environment of learning that supports patient safety and professional practice. Serves as a resource to staff for adherence to nursing and interdisciplinary standards that are consistent with the established Care Management Models and regulatory requirements. Works to create & maintain a collaborative environment for clinical research staff.
Clinical/Research. Displays expertise in understanding protocols of treatment procedures, facilities, equipment, treatments of diseases, reactions, and side effects of related methods. Successfully implements research/clinical integration and cooperation into clinical settings. Utilizes evidence-based approaches to develop, maintain, and evaluate clinical care that supports the delivery of safe, effective and efficient patient care. Ensures infection control standards are maintained.
Leadership/Coordination. Supports the mission, philosophy, standards, goals and objectives of the institution, and the role of nursing. Participates in committees, projects, and functions as a leader of the health care team. Must apply analytical and problem solving skills on a daily basis, and provides direct guidance and mentorship to their unit nurses often acting as a liaison between staff, various levels of management, and the hospital’s executive team. Responsible for large-scale policy planning, financial resource management, and business management, in addition to their core responsibilities of coordinating and supervising the delivery of health care.
Evaluation of Outcomes/Research. Obtains and utilizes data from a variety of sources including internal and external bench marking, research finding and data outcomes to enhance programs supporting patient care, care management services, and improve patient outcomes. Drives continuous improvements and attainment of organization and division/value stream goals through improved clinical efficiency and cost savings, enhanced quality with a focus on nursing activities, and performance in clinical and research areas. Ensures services meet regulatory requirements, identifies & executes clinical initiatives, tracks progress, and communicates with clinic leaders for accountability.
Financial Planning. May create and manage department budgeting and spending and financial planning and other strategic visioning.
Supervisory. Collaborate with clinic management to oversee nursing activities. Director of Nursing will have oversight and accountability of nurses in all practice settings.
As Needed. Performs related duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

Education: Master’s Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or Healthcare related field
Experience: 60 months (5years) clinical experience in acute care nursing, quality, or risk management and progressive leadership experience in a position of comparable scope.
Certifications/ Licenses: Current State of Oklahoma Registered Nurse Certification, CPR Certification, and OCN certification obtained within a one-year of employment.
Advanced knowledge of change management, current issues, trends, and health care.
Advanced knowledge with MS Office products and ability to operate a personal computer.
Excellent verbal communication, interpersonal, and team building skills.
Self-directed, creative, and risk-taker.
Ability to monitor and improve the quality of nursing care.
Ability to oversee staff development and demonstrate group facilitation skills.
Demonstrates understanding of the value of professional nursing for an organization to attract and retain advanced practice nurses.
