Deaconess Health System, based in Evansville, IN, seeks a dynamic, experienced, highly visible and engaging nursing executive to serve as its Chief Nursing Executive/Vice President, Patient Care Services (CNE). Deaconess Health System (Deaconess) is the premier provider of health care services to 26 counties in three states (IN, IL, and KY). The $1.2 billion, Magnet-designated healthcare system consists of nine hospitals located in southern Indiana and northern Kentucky.
The CNE will provide leadership and strategic direction for nursing care across all Deaconess entities. The CNE will collaborate with others in the creation of a high reliability organization that delivers the highest quality of patient care, outcomes, patient experience and patient safety. In partnership, the CNE and CMO will facilitate the analysis and implementation of clinical quality improvement opportunities. Together, they will lead by example to enhance clinical care partnerships and collaboration between physicians and nurses.
Reporting to the system CEO, the CNE is expected to contribute as an integral member of the senior leadership team of Deaconess and will be sought out as a key participant in setting and executing the strategic direction of the health system. The CNE will be a visible and transparent leader who can build strong, empowered and accountable teams. She/he will also be responsible for driving system integration across all entities as Deaconess has grown considerably in size and complexity over the past few years.
Successful candidates will possess strong clinical knowledge leadership expertise ideally gained through experience as a CNE or nursing leader in a large, sophisticated organization. Experience in Magnet designated organizations as well as multi-hospital systems is a plus.
