The Director of Perioperative Services supervises and directs nursing care and related activities in the perioperative areas (PACU, Operating Room, PASS Center, Central Sterile Processings, and Outpatient Services) according to policies and procedures of the hospital, in order to assure the highest quality of patient care possible. This includes planning, leading, organizing and controlling: patient care, environmental issues, staffing, equipment and supplies. The Director of Perioperative Services works collaboratively with various departments to insure the objectives of the department and hospital are met.
What You'll Do:
Directs various personnel functions including, but not limited to hiring, training, performance appraisals, promotions, transfers, and schedules and provides oversight to the PACU Manager and Operating Room Supervisor.
Effectively delegates projects, work assignments, and tasks to staff with clear expectations of the desired results, explanation of the available resources, clarification of accountability as work progresses, and clear guidelines to follow.
Conducts regular team meetings to ensure effective communication of hospital goals and objectives, effective communication within the department; provides the opportunity for feedback on work processes, provides a forum for problem resolution.
Monitors effective and productive use of time and optimal utilization of skills and resources.
Plan, research, develop, and maintain departmental policies and procedures in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations and guidelines.
Analyzes and evaluates, on a continual basis, all nursing services in the unit in order to improve quality of care given; develops, implements, and evaluates an effective Quality Improvement Program for the nursing unit which interacts appropriately with medical staff and other departments.
Provides leadership in CQI to the department by continuously assessing work processes, developing team-oriented solutions to problems, implementing changes, and evaluating the results.
Provides senior management with thoughtful analysis of identified problems within, or involving the department, and recommends viable, cost effective solutions for implementation.
