Senior Vice President Patient Services/ Chief Nursing Officer

The Chief Nursing Officer creates and sustains a vibrant and innovative environment for professional nursing where an engaged nursing workforce partners with the healthcare team to provide best in class patient care focused on outcomes in patient safety, quality and engagement. As a member of the senior leadership team, assists with the development of strategic, operational, fiscal, programmatic and other plans and policies to achieve the mission and vision of the system. Creates an environment within departments which fosters the planning, evaluating, directing, coordinating, and improving health care services which are responsive to community and patient needs and which improve patient health outcomes. As the chief nursing officer, assures establishment of standards of nursing practice and nursing standards of care which describe and guide the nursing care provided in all settings through a research-based, self-directed professional practice system.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
Master's degree in nursing, health care or business required. BSN required.
Registered Nurse with current licensure in the State of Maryland.
Certification in nursing administration is recommended.
Knowledge of leadership functions providing for planning, evaluating, directing, coordinating, implementing and improving health care services.
Previous experience in nursing administration.
Five (5) years of managerial experience to include capital and operating budget preparation and cost-benefit analysis of programs, services and equipment.
Demonstrated experience with performance improvement principles and processes.
Ability to: a) effectively communicate both orally and in writing, b) maintain confidentiality, c) build and manage collaborative teams, d) constructively handle sensitive issues, e) effectively resolve conflict and f) plan both short and long term goals.
Demonstrated skill in: a) managing multiple projects simultaneously, b) attention to detail and follow through, c) budget development and management, d) leading people and getting results through others.
