Howard University seeks a Senior Director, Clinical Operations for their Faculty Practice Plan. The position reports directly to the Chief Administrative Officer for the Plan. The organization is undergoing exciting, transformational change. The Campus Master Plan includes a state-of-the-art teaching Hospital and Medical Office Building and an integrated Health Sciences Complex and STEM Center to serve as a centerpiece and catalyst for interdisciplinary research and patient care.
Ideal candidates will have experience working successfully within a Faculty Practice Plan (FPP) or comprehensive Medical Group. Of particular interest are those with a record of transforming the non-physician clinical operations and regulatory compliance of an FPP and its respective clinics to a highly functioning, accountable enterprise. Maintaining supportive relationships with Chairs and other Faculty is also important. Candidates must be team players recognized for their ability to work thoughtfully and collaboratively with internal as well as external stakeholders. The Senior Director of Clinical Operations will lead organizational efforts to establish clinical operational standards for the Howard University Faculty Practice Plan. Develop and implement operational policies and procedures; drive oversight of clinical programs by analyzing key metrics; leverage clinical and economic outcomes; establish inventory control protocols; lead efforts to establish Joint Commission standards throughout the practice; lead efforts to adopt CHCAHPS, HEDIS and Performance Measurement; lead initiative to implement certification of Medical Assistant staff and related ongoing CME training program; participate in quality improvement efforts and partner with clinical management to develop optimal results.
Oversee the development and ongoing operation of the Howard University Faculty Practice Plan in coordination with the Chief Administrative Officer.
Responsible for directing and overseeing organizational efforts to leverage clinical and economic outcomes, as well as operational effectiveness.
Communicate results through appropriate channels.
Hire, train, and direct staff; Partner with Human Resources to establish tiers for identified clinical staff positions.
Responsible for communicating policies and procedures that integrate the work of all positions within the Faculty Practice Plan and ensures that they are known and followed.
Manage the operational goals of the clinical team on an ongoing basis.
Responsible for coordinating and leveraging analytics and performance improvement resources to continually improve the performance of clinical operations.
Communicate operational performance and progress on implementing clinical initiatives.
Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders building credibility with hospital and university leadership. Employ disciplined project management process to ensure the successful implementation of programs.

Competencies & Areas of Expertise
Interpersonal and Communication Skills
Minimum of 4 years of clinical operations staff management experience in a professional clinical setting such as a medical group or faculty practice plan.
Minimum of 8-10 years of operational management experience in a clinical setting.
