Vice President/Chief Nursing Officer

WittKieffer is assisting UW Health in the recruitment of the next Vice President/Chief Nursing Officer, American Family Children's Hospital. Working in a triad partnership with AFCH's Chief Operating Officer and Chief Medical Officer, the CNO will establish and successfully implement a vision for nursing care, advance the professional practice of nursing and passionately lead nursing in the pursuit of clinical and service excellence. The ability to mentor and coach leaders to achieve their highest level of potential is paramount to this role. Part of UW Health, a $5 billion health system in Madison, WI, the American Family Children’s Hospital (AFCH) is a beautiful, world-class 111-bed medical and surgical center with 17 locations serving kids' primary care needs and 25 clinic locations throughout the region for kids who require specialty care. The AFCH CNO is responsible for leading inpatient nursing and nursing practice in accordance with the mission, vision and values of UW Health. The CNO is charged to improve access, quality, safety, patient experience, productivity and efficiency of nursing practice. The CNO is part of a leadership triad responsible for the pediatric system of care at UW Health. The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in nursing and Master's degree in healthcare or related discipline along with seven years of progressively responsible pediatric nursing management or supervisory level experience in a complex setting; experience in an academic medical center is preferred, as are candidates that are Doctorally prepared (DNP). Along with a passion for pediatric patient care, evidence of effective leadership in initiating change and innovation to elevate nursing practice in a team-based setting is expected.
