The Regional Director of Critical Care Services will provide strategic leadership for the Swedish Region Critical Care operations to ensure efficient and effective delivery of Critical Care Services, a connected experience of care and clinical excellence for the patients that we serve. This includes directing business operations and all facets of clinical performance, strategic operations, fiscal oversight, business plan implementations, and process improvements. This position leads and facilitates regional process strategy for clinical practice and operations for Critical Care services. This position consults on practice standards of care throughout the Swedish region. Plans, coordinates and supervises the clinical and administrative functions in accordance with system polices and goals. Accountable for developing, implementing and managing a model of care and services that supports strategic goals for Critical Care Services. Plans and develops appropriate strategic relationships for the delivery of Critical Care Services. Facilitates collaborative working relationships with programs and departments within the institutions to assure appropriate quality and coordination of care for all critical care patients. Works collaboratively with Medical Directors to ensure optimal Critical Care Service delivery to patients and medical staff.
This role is also accountable for the overall leadership, direction, and management of the First Hill Critical Care units as well as the eICU, including oversight of the nurse managers and responsibility for the departments’ performance related to budget, quality outcomes, safety, patient experience, and caregiver engagement.
The Regional Director of Critical Care Services will have the following accountabilities:
Develops and implements Swedish Region goals and objectives for Critical Care Services in conjunction with the Medical
Director and CMO/CNO; obtaining input from physicians, supervisors, staff, and hospital specific senior leaders.
Additionally, partners and collaborates with other clinical leaders to ensure delivery of the Swedish Mission.
Develops an integrated process for preparing and implementing Swedish Region strategic plans for Critical Care Services.
Periodically reviews and updates strategic plans to reflect changing customer needs and strategic opportunities.
Prepares Critical Care Services capital equipment budget and operating budgets in collaboration with campus executives.
Monitors Critical Care Services operating statements to assure that budgetary goals are met; and significant deviations are adequately understood and appropriate action taken.
In conjunction with Medical Director, physicians, Clinical Education and Practice, and leaders, develops common standards, protocols, policies and procedures for all activity of Critical Care Services.
Develops Critical Care Services leaders and members who will meet the qualitative, quantitative and Mission related goals established for Critical Care Services.
Develops and mentors relationships with Critical Care Clinical Nurse leaders. Leads management team in planning, organizing and responding to identified trends and creates opportunities for growth, development and improvement of services.
Develops and implements the delivery of Critical Care Services through integration of services.
Provides mentoring, support and leadership using the Mission goals and objectives of Swedish.
In conjunction with the Medical Directors and Critical Care Management Team, maintains Critical Care Services in a state of readiness for inspections by accrediting agencies such as the State of Washington, Det Norske Veritas (DNV), and OSHA.
Develops and promotes marketing strategies for Critical Care Services.
Works collaboratively with Medical Director and physicians to assure quality, timely and appropriate clinical services are provided to all patients.
Provides leadership to Critical Care Services in a way that maximizes quality through the development and implementation of quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives; cost effectiveness through efficient and effective delivery of quality clinical services; and supports the programs and operational needs through involvement and participation in program and service development in the system.
Promotes a culture of excellence, quality patient care, and outstanding patient experience.
Required education/experience for this position include:
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
Master’s degree in Nursing or other alternatives (Health Administration, Public Health, or Business Adminstration) preferred.
Advanced experience in the area of service, human resources, business and quality management.
5 years of experience in Critical Care Services management, preferably in multi-institutional Critical Care Services management.
Licensed to practice registered nursing in state of Washington.
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers required at time of hire from American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network (MTN).
Current driver's license.
Ability to lead top level management team to desirable outcomes.
Ability to manage multiple geographical sites effectively maintaining strong professional relationships at all locations
Ability to effectively working with staff across different institutions to develop a standardized approach to patient care
Demonstrated strategic and financial skills with the goal of positioning services to be cost-effective while meeting quality and service goals
Ability to adapt and respond effectively to constantly changing service environments.
Knowledge of managed care principles and practices in service delivery.
In-depth working knowledge of clinical critical care services and management.
Ability to prioritize and organize daily tasks in response to changing business needs.
Ability to process information accurately, quickly and thoroughly.
Ability to coordinate/facilitate teamwork, groups, and to task groups.
Ability to analyze, interpret and write administrative reports.
Excellent communication skills; including strong presentation and business writing skills.

Overseeing compliance with extensive requirements from regulatory agencies for Critical Care Services
Ability to meet tight deadlines and meeting schedules.
Ability to interact positively and effectively with multi-department/service teams including hospitals and satellite facilities.
Ability to serve as a change agent supporting integration concepts.
Ability to conceptualize and implement new service delivery models to meet changing business needs.
Ability to analyze data, codes, regulations, and practices to develop progressive and compliant programs including DNV.
Ability to understand customer needs and deliver services to meet their needs.
Ability to represent Swedish professionally and build collaborative relationships with various public and community agencies or organizations.
