Chief Nursing Officer
Covenant Health
Facility Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) needed for Parkwest Medical Center/Covenant Health, the region’s largest premier health care provider and recognized in 2019 and 2020 by Forbes magazine as being named among “The Best in State” in Knoxville, Tennessee. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, highly motivated nursing leader at Covenant Health. The CNO incumbent will be a key member of our senior leadership team and will work closely with the medical center’s Chief Administrative Officer, as well as the System CNO. All Covenant facilities are joint commission accredited not-for-profit hospitals. Our Chief Nursing officers are accountable for the provision and quality of all nursing services at a facility level in support of Covenant Health’s System and our overall goals. This includes strategically ensuring a balance of optimal and efficient patient care; staff, patient, and physician satisfaction; and cooperative partnerships with other organizational departments and professional groups. The CNO must have a constant focus on our pledge of excellence: patient-centered care; excellence in everything we do; being the best choice for patients, employees, physicians, and volunteers. The CNO creates and maintains standards and systems for care delivery at their facility, which promote evidence-based practice and are designed to support the management of human resources productivity targets, as well as appropriate planning for and use of available resources, including staff and patient safety. This position reports to and works closely with the facility President/CAO to enhance nurse/physician collaboration and promote optimum patient and family experience and clinical outcomes. The position also has a dotted line to the System CNO, works closely with the medical center’s senior leadership team, and collaborates with directors, managers, and nursing schools on orientation, fostering an environment of professional and clinical development in order to continuously elevate the standards of nursing practice. Additionally, the CNO pursues, encourages, and maintains the integration of the medical center with the community/public through effective communication and public relations programs. Parkwest is a 337-bed acute care top 50 cardiovascular hospital, was recognized by US News as a top 10 hospital in the state for two years in a row, AHA gold for NSTEMI, AHA silver for stroke, Tennessee BEST for Babies and has Blue Distinction Centers + (BDC+) for hip/knee and spine. In 2020, Parkwest completed a 100 million-dollar expansion, including the addition of three new heart operating rooms, an observation unit, PCU, childbirth expansion, and ASU physical therapy service.
