Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH) is seeking a strategic, experienced and system-oriented nurse leader, who will bring a vision of integrated pediatric behavioral health and innovative care models to support children and families in a critical and challenging national emergency. The Senior Director, Behavioral Health Nursing will oversee the delivery of patient care operations to include: 16-bed inpatient psychiatric unit (Longwood Campus); a 12-bed community based acute treatment (CBAT) unit (Waltham Campus); Behavioral Response Team (BRT) with resources spanning several care delivery settings; nursing practice in ambulatory psychiatry programs; This team spans more than 200 FTE’s and is comprised of a wide range of nursing and interprofessional team members. This newly created Senior Director position reports to the Vice President, Associate Chief Nurse, Medical, Surgical & Behavioral Health and is positioned to collaborate with physician leaders, administrative leaders, nursing directors/managers, and clinical team members across all settings of care.
Ten (10+) years of RN experience with at least 8 years of progressive management/leadership experience within a nursing leadership role.
Prior experience directing nursing and interprofessional practice with hiring authority and associated accountabilities in a similarly complex, academic pediatric acute care setting providing and leading acute care behavioral health services.
An earned reputation as an empathetic and trusted leader who rapidly establishes rapport with others, builds effective and diverse teams with strong cultural competencies through mentorship and professional development practices, and capably leads cross-organizational change.
A master’s degree in nursing (MSN/MS) degree in nursing. A doctoral degree (PhD, DNSc, or DNP) or relevant health system related doctorate (DrPH) preferred.
Nursing leadership certification (NE-BC) or commitment to successfully complete within two years.
Candidates who hold all the above qualifications in a similarly complex adult academic health care delivery setting may be considered.
Preparation as an APRN (FNP/PNP or ANP), and prior accountability for APRN professional practice, is beneficial, but not required.
Demonstrated ability to contribute to business plans and conceptualize new clinical programs.
