Serving as VP/Associate Chief Nursing Officer – Perioperative Services at Rhode Island Hospital, you will be accountable for executing the strategic direction, implementing key initiatives and overseeing operations management of the nursing department, including direct responsibility for Perioperative Services, Pre-Post Anesthesia Care Unit, Surgical Short Stay and the Sterile Processing Department. This role is both an RIH affiliate role and partial system role. The major focus is RIH with advancing level of Lifespan system responsibilities over time. Duties at Rhode Island Hospital include: - Overseeing perioperative business and strategic planning
- Functioning as Chief Nursing Officer in the absence of the Senior VP CNO
- Assuming responsibility for the operations and administration of nursing for perioperative designated clinical areas and procedural areas
- Monitoring patient outcomes, evaluating and improving performance in clinical programs and establishing systems to evaluate and promote staff proficiency
- Developing educational goals and supporting clinical research to generate nursing sensitive outcomes to improve patient care delivery
- Creating and maintaining a work environment that fosters staff satisfaction, employee growth, interdisciplinary collaboration, team building and excellence
System-wide duties include: - Leading and advancing a system vision for Lifespan perioperative services in collaboration with key physician leaders and executives
- Collecting, analyzing and disseminating market data, surgical practice patterns and emerging national trends, and evaluating the impact of payer practices and models on reimbursement
- Leading the development of annual and multi-year system-wide volume projections and budgets
- Develops a perioperative services quality dashboard for the system and affiliates
QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelor’s degree in Nursing; Master’s degree in Nursing or related field such as healthcare administration or its equivalent preferred
- Doctor of Nursing Practice or PhD preferred
- Current RN license in the State of Rhode Island
- Professional certification in the field of nursing or healthcare
- 10-15 years of progressively more responsible related experience, preferably gained in a similarly diverse and operationally complex healthcare environment
- 5+ years of experience at a large, complex, tertiary teaching hospital or academic medical center
- High level of oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated commitment to conceptualize, develop and affect quality in-patient services
- Effective leadership/management skills
- Commitment to continuous improvement
- Thorough knowledge of the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Rhode Island
- Supervisory responsibility for up to 400+ FTEs
