Opportunity The University of Toledo Medical Center (UTMC) seeks a strategic leader with executive acumen and an outstanding ability to provide clinical and administrative leadership to all nursing services for the organization as the next Chief Nursing Officer.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) is an integral member of the senior leadership team focused on strategic direction, performance improvement, clinical outcomes, financial measures, and other indicators of operational effectiveness. The CNO is responsible for implementing, overseeing, and coordinating various program-related activities and/or projects on an ongoing basis. The successful candidate Identifies and advises the Chief Executive Officer and other members of the CEO Cabinet on opportunities and issues related to the nursing and clinical operations. The CNO recommends and implements changes in policy, practice, and service to achieve hospital goals. She/he plans, promotes, directs, and leads assigned departments in a manner consistent with UTMC’s mission and values. Additionally, the CNO provides coordination and integration of nursing services for patient care within the context of medical and ancillary services.
The successful candidate for Chief Nursing Officer will possess demonstrated competence in management and leadership skills necessary to develop and implement organizational strategies and opportunities for improving the delivery of care to patients.
Qualifications Qualified candidates are those who hold an advanced degree (Masters) from an accredited institution in Nursing, Health Service (Public Health) Administration, Business Administration, or related area of graduate study and a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. A current, active State of Ohio Registered Nurse license is required.
The ideal candidate expected to have a minimum 10 years of progressive experience in an inpatient care environment, both practice and administrative experience. Experience in an academic health center preferred.
