Chief Nursing Officer, Vice President, Nursing/Patient Care Services

Reporting to the system Chief Hospital Officer, the Vice President of Patient Care and Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) of North Memorial Health Hospital exemplifies the system’s mission, vision, and values through nursing practice and delivery. The CNO provides strategic leadership as the senior executive responsible for nursing and other designated services within the hospital. This leader is responsible for assessing, planning, coordinating, implementing and evaluating nursing practice on a facility level and as a member of the senior leadership team for the system. The CNO partners with other members of the North Memorial Health leadership team across the hospital and system in the development of operational programs, policies, and procedures to meet all requirements, including ethical and legal obligations.

Establish standards of nursing practice for all nursing functions within the hospital and collaborate as appropriate across the system.
Measure, assess and improve the quality of care, treatment, and services delivered to customers; champion safety efforts throughout the organization. Collaborate with medical staff and hospital team to ensure that the highest quality of health service is being provided to customers.
Lead innovation in nursing policy, practice, education and training to ensure the achievement of exceptional clinical outcomes. Integrate current evidence based practice and research into the policies and procedures governing the provision of nursing care.
Partner with leaders throughout the hospital and system to execute divisional and departmental initiatives and day to day operations.
Establish systems and processes that drive accountability to assure key customer care, financial and operational outcomes are achieved.
Guide annual goal setting as well as the development, implementation, and monitoring of a strategic plan for Nursing which reflects current and anticipated strategic priorities for the hospital and the system.
Partner with department leaders and finance teams to meet financial goals via the annual budget process, monthly Management by Objectives and Results (MOR) process, and productivity and efficiency reviews for areas of responsibility.
Advocate for and allocate resources, including fiscal and technology resources, to support customer care in keeping with North Memorial Health’s mission and vision.
Develop and implement mechanisms for promoting the educational advancement and leadership development of patient care staff.
Maintain community affiliations to support and promote a positive image of the hospital and North Memorial Health Care in the community.
Maintain compliance with regulations governing healthcare providers and the regulations of accrediting bodies by monitoring operations and initiating changes where required.
10+ years of progressive leadership experience within nursing leadership and/or healthcare administration, including 8+ years of clinical experience.
A proven leader of people who can recruit, develop, mentor and retain a high-performing and engaged work force, encouraging personal growth and professional achievement.
Demonstrated ability to contribute to development of strategic goals, generate innovative ideas and successfully deliver solutions.
Proven track record of improving nursing operations with positive outcomes in quality, cost, productivity, patient throughput and patient, employee and physician satisfaction.
Graduate of an accredited program in nursing. Master’s degree in nursing or a related field preferred.
