This is highly complex management and professional work with authority and responsibility for establishing standards of nursing practice. The Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer, is an officer of the corporation and designated as an alternate for the president. Successful performance requires a high degree of independent judgment and action. The Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer, is responsible for nursing care throughout the hospital.
Integrates their departments’ services with the hospital’s primary functions.
Coordinates and integrates services within Nursing Services and with other departments.
Develops and implements policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of nursing practices and services.
Determines the qualifications and competence of department personnel who provide patient care services and who are not licensed independent practitioners.
Assesses and improves continuously the Hospital’s performances.
Maintains appropriate quality control programs.
Provides for orientation, in-service training, and continuing education of all persons in Nursing Services.
Recommends space and other resources needed by Nursing Services.
Participates in selecting outside sources as needed by Nursing Services.
Must have a BSN and an MBA, MHA, MSN or other relevant master’s degree
Must have a minimum of seven to ten years progressive leadership experience.
Requires strong oral and written communications skills including the ability to interact with senior executives, physicians, board members, and high-level government officials
