Responsibilities of the Director of Medical Surgical
Responsible for the comprehensive operations of the Oncology MedSurg Unit ensuring compliance with hospital and nursing mission, goals, procedures, policies, and philosophy
Utilizes the nursing process in the delivery of patient care and ensure quality care
Leader in quality patient care and satisfaction that will enhance the staff’s ability for exceptional quality care of patients
Manage all directions for the unit through resources, finances, and being a liaison to physicians, patients, and community
Demonstrate a team approach to help with team building
Anticipate staff problems and take preventive measures
Analyze and take appropriate steps to maintain employee morale and satisfaction
Effectively share information, build relationships, and influence positive outcomes
Evaluate nursing services provided and makes recommendations for improvements.
Requirements for Director of Medical Surgical
3 years' nurse management experience in a short-term acute care hospital setting
5 years' nursing experience in a short-term acute care hospital setting
