The incumbent of this position provides house/nursing supervision for the Division of Nursing Services and coordinates patient care activities and support activities to assure smooth hospital operation during weekend, evening, and night tours.  Incumbent is responsible for assuring that adequate staff are available to meet patient care needs.  Uses the patient acuity/staffing program to determine staffing requirements and patient care needs, redistributes personnel, recalls on-call staff, and approves leaves as indicated by the acuity system.

Education:

Must have a bachelor’s degree in Nursing

Certifications:

• A valid, current, full and unrestricted Professional Nursing License to practice nursing in any state of the United States of America, The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States
• Must have and maintain a current valid certification of the following throughout employment:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association, if none obtain within six (6) months of hire
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC), required within in six (6) months of hire

Experience:

Must have three (3) years of current and continuous acute care experience with (two) 2 years in a critical care specialty area, i.e. ICU, ED. and demonstrate progressive leadership experience, such as Lead Clinical Nurse or Unit Manager
