Columbia Memorial Hospital (CMH), located in beautiful Astoria, Oregon, is seeking an experienced Nurse Manager to provide direction and supervision in the delivery of nursing care in our Family Birthing Center. As such, he/she has 24-hour responsibility and accountability for all patient care activities, department operation and staff function. The nurse manager will occasionally be directly responsible and accountable for the care given to his/her assigned patients. Assesses, plans, implements, directs, and evaluates all services provided within the department. Duties include budgeting, capital expenditure, staffing, performance improvement, patient rounds, planning services, staff training and supervision, performance evaluations with improvement plans as necessary. Possesses the technical skills to act quickly, knowledgeably, and appropriately in any situation that may occur. Works with patients, customers, and the community with flexibility and adaptability.
Knowledge of/Skill/Ability to:A thorough knowledge of nursing principles and procedures; knowledge and skills in techniques of good patient care. Knowledge of AWHONN standards, practices, and recommendations. The person must be dependable regarding attendance, self-motivated with good communication skills. Annually participates in at least 20 hours of continuing education and attends at least one management or specifically focused conference per year.
License/Certification: RN currently licensed by the Oregon State Board of Nursing in good standing (or ability to obtain Oregon license). BLS through American Heart Association and NRP required; ACLS and RNC-OB preferred. STABLE within six months of hire date.
Education and/or Experience:
BSN or BS degree from an accredited school of nursing, or equivalent experience required.
Minimum five (5) years of acute care hospital experience and two (2) years supervisory and/or management experience required.
Previous Maternity Services experience relevant to the patient population of this hospital.
A thorough knowledge of nursing principles and procedures; knowledge and skills in techniques of good patient care.
Dependable regarding attendance, self-motivated with excellent communication skills.
