* Grant 6 is a 52-bed unit that has a focus on Medical and Oncology patients, and is a part of our ACS Cancer Program. Grant 6 is committed to educating nursing students for multiple community and statewide RN programs. *
The Manager, Nursing has fiscal and operational responsibility and accountability for standards of care and service within specified clinical areas/units. He/she provides leadership for improving patient care, planning, staff performance, systems improvements, and teaching. Works with the Medical Director to develop and evaluate standards of care and practice for identified patient populations. The Manager, Nursing participates in the setting and implementation of the organization's goals, priorities, and strategies and works with other disciplines and groups to provide the highest quality of care across the system. The Manager, Nursing is responsible for the development of staff within their Department.
Responsibilities:
• Provides direction to staff maintaining compliance with regulations and legislation affecting the units’ delivery of patient care and overall operations. • In Collaboration with the Vice President, prepares individual unit operating and capital budgets, ensuring that they are consistent with organizational fiscal targets. • Structures unit positions for the effective handling of work objectives within the financial parameters of the operating budget. • In conjunction with the Vice President, develops programs, policies, procedures, protocols, and standards that describe the work accomplished by the unit(s). • Supports the planning and implementation of education to meet all licensing and regulatory requirements, as well as unit based staff competency requirements. • Leads initiatives on the unit to change structure, systems, skill mix, or processes to more effectively support the business strategy of the Patient Care Services division. • Sets challenging goals with staff for their development, assigning clear responsibilities and accountabilities, and inspiring work efforts through personal example. • Maintains a safe environment for healthcare workers, patients, and/or visitors complying with NLH policies and procedures; reviews, documents and addresses all incidents and safety violations within area of responsibility; reports all lost time due to reported work injuries within 24 hours to local HR BP or Safety contact; supports and facilitates open and communication among NLH employees, non-employed healthcare workers, patients and visitors, reporting and addressing patient and environmental safety concerns. • May perform other duties upon request.
Experience:
- Front line leadership as a charge nurse OR in other industry leadership positions.
- Should be clinically competent and a role model for Medical Nurses.

Credentials
- Required Registered Nurse
- AACN Certification preferred. Must obtain CNML within 12 months.

- Required Bachelor's Degree
