UVA Community Health (UVACH) announces an exceptional opportunity for an accomplished nurse executive to provide leadership and vision to the overall operation of nursing and clinical ancillary services as System Chief Nursing Officer.
The Organization
UVACH is the community medicine arm of UVA Health, comprising three community hospitals and an integrated network of clinical practices and outpatient locations throughout northern Virginia. The Chief Nursing Officer supports care delivery across the system, which encompasses 260 inpatient beds, 1,200+ providers, 2,600+ employed team members and 41 primary and specialty care clinics.
The Position
The System Chief Nursing Officer is responsible for the overall operation of nursing and clinical ancillary services within Prince William Medical Center, Haymarket Medical Center, and Culpeper Medical Center in partnership with the executive team. The system CNO provides leadership in clinical strategy and standardization for nursing practice and patient care across the healthcare system. This nurse executive maintains accountability for the provision of high quality, safe patient care across the corporation, consistent with the mission, vision, values, and strategic plan. The system CNO ensures that key clinical areas are aligned for the continued development and implementation of an engaging and innovative strategic plan for nursing.
A member of the executive leadership team, the system Chief Nursing Officer supports and facilitates an interdisciplinary team approach to the overall delivery of care to patients, families, and the community. The CNO leads quality, safety, and innovation initiatives in partnership with the Chief Quality Officer and members of the executive leadership team. The system CNO oversees patient care delivery design and implementation and serves as a liaison between the nursing staff and hospital executives. The system CNO will standardize, develop, and ensure the appropriate translation of evidence-based care into daily practice, assuring the highest quality of care for the community.
The Chief Nursing Officer ensures the vision, strategic direction, and the advancement of the nursing profession throughout UVACH. The system CNO is responsible for the advancement of high standards of nursing practice and nursing sensitive patient outcomes, and the overall nursing engagement across the integrated delivery system. In this capacity, the system Chief Nursing Officer, guides the hospital nurse executives and other nursing leaders in setting the standards in Nursing Practice, Nursing Orientation, and development of the long-range vision and strategic plan for nursing services, which includes building engagement and providing mentorship.
