HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE:
Reporting to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital’s President, this unique and expanded nurse executive role will provide strategic leadership for nursing practice, nursing operations, clinical education, and excellence at the site level, along with championing “all things” nursing for the Central Chicagoland Area. The dyad relationship with the site CMO within a matrixed, inter-professional environment will achieve optimal patient/consumer care across the continuum.
The CNO is a transformational leader who creates an inclusive environment for all team members that results in patient/consumer centered, high quality, safe, effective, efficient, timely and equitable care. Oversee the development and implementation of the site and area nursing operations plan including staffing resource requirements, care models, workflows and throughput, equipment, and technology in alignment with the site, area, regional and enterprise nursing strategy.
The CNO will ensure fidelity to national and Advocate Health’s evidence-based standards of nursing practice excellence and foster a culture in which excellence in clinical care, research, and the engagement of professional nurses in practice decisions results in sustained achievement of targeted clinical quality outcomes, team member engagement, patient experience and financial results.
Hospital Oversight: All inpatient units, Dialysis, Trauma-I Emergency Department, Surgical Services Division, Magnet Program, Patient Experience and Patient Safety.
Central Chicagoland Area Oversight: Working collaboratively with the Advocate Health Care President of Illinois hospitals and area hospital CNOs, the Market & Area VP CNO will spearhead the vision for nursing practice, research, innovations, and strategic initiatives for the designated market area, which includes two additional, high performing, Magnet designated medical centers: Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center and Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital. The VP Area CNO will support, guide and mentor the CNOs in their area.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
License/Registration/Certification:
Registered Nurse license in applicable state
Must be certified in current specialty and License issued by applicable state; Certification AACN approved
Education: BS Nursing and Masters in a related field or Bachelors in another field and Masters in Nursing. Doctorate (DNP, PhD) preferred.
Experience:
15 years of progressive nursing leadership roles with 3-5 years as a CNO (or comparable position).
Typically requires 15 years of experience in nursing and health care administration that includes experiences in overseeing nursing practices and operations for a medical center within a large complex healthcare organization and developing and maintaining quality nursing programs. Includes 5 years of management experience in management of staff and budgets.
Skills and demonstrated experience in developing, facilitating, and leading nursing programs and initiatives which align with organizational goals and objectives.
Comprehensive knowledge of effective best practice in nursing operations, regulations, and guidelines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees, which is necessary to collaborate with management/executives/ other organizations.
Skills and demonstrated experience in establishing excellent working relationships and strategic partnering with various teams and executives across a large organization to achieve a shared vision, values, and objectives.
**Ideal Experience: Nurse leadership within a trauma I/II center, teaching/academic hospital, Magnet designation involvement, matrixed healthcare system.
**Compensation is based on applicable years of experience with an Annual Performance Incentive Plan. Relocation package available.
