The Nurse Practice Manager assumes fiscal responsibility through preparation of unit budgets, supports research, participates in both long- and short-term strategic planning, and assures patient advocacy. The Nurse Practice Manager is accountable to the Director, Ambulatory Operations and Director of Ambulatory Nursing Practice.
The Nurse Practice Manager is responsible for the daily hour planning, organizing, directing, and controlling of the daily operations and clinical practice of assigned patient care areas, to provide quality, individualized patient care and support of Medical Center philosophies. The Nurse Practice Manager will lead staff to model a professional practice environment by providing a clinically competent staff; encouraging strong interdisciplinary team collaboration and communication; supporting autonomy and accountability; providing staff opportunities for in-service and formal education; stressing the importance of continuous learning; and supporting a culture where concern for the patient is paramount.
Minimum Qualifications
• Baccalaureate degree in Nursing
• Master’s degree required in nursing or another related field. If currently enrolled in a Master’s degree program, the completion and graduation must be within three years.
• Demonstrated minimum of 2 years of nursing management experience
• At least 5 years of nursing (RN) experience
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Meets specialty specific clinical competencies for assigned area
• Working knowledge of applicable Standards of Practice
• Knowledgeable and proficient in the use of health care technology within specialty area
• Demonstrates a commitment to customer service and an ability to meet the needs and expectations of patients and health care colleagues
• Full command (verbal and written) of the English language
Preferred Qualifications
• Recent experience in procedures or perio-op
• Experience in Otolaryngology
• Recent experience with scope procedures
• Recent experience with conscious sedation
Special Requirements
• All health practitioners have mandatory reporting responsibilities when an adult (or a minor who meets special circumstances as described in UCDMC Hospital P&P 1408) presents at UCDMC as an outpatient or inpatient from any source for treatment of injuries related to domestic violence; or if one has knowledge of or observes a child who one knows or reasonably suspects is the victim of child abuse; or if one has knowledge of, or reasonably suspects that an elder or a dependent adult is the victim of elder/dependent adult abuse
• Work hours are variable based upon the workload and department needs
• References must reflect an overall meet or exceeds expectations
• This position is a critical position and subject to a background check and drug screen. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background investigation including criminal history, identity checks and drug screen.
