Summary: Reports to the Administrative Director of Nursing. Under the direction of the Administrative Director of Nursing, the Director assumes responsibility for all day-to-day operations within the Nursing Education & Professional Development Department. This role focuses on promotion of excellence in clinical practice, professional development that encompasses continuing competence, ongoing monitoring of the quality of patient care and oversight of the professional development and training of all caregivers at Silver Cross Hospital. Collaboration with hospital leadership in the development of educational opportunities for all healthcare workers on topics which directly impact the delivery of excellent patient care is also included in this position. Fosters empowerment through knowledge to achieve excellence in the delivery of evidenced based practice. Maintaining standards of professional nursing, contributing to quality patient care and nursing professional development are within the scope of this role. Assumes administrative and operational responsibility for coordinating all aspects of CNE activity provided by Silver Cross Hospital. Serves as Primary Nurse Planner for the provider unit of continuing nursing education.
Qualifications: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois, minimum 5 years’ experience in leadership and operations. Educational expertise in assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of continuing education activities. Knowledge of and experience with adult learning principles. Master’s degree of nursing, from an accredited university program.
