The VP Patient Care Services/CNO Alaska continuously exemplifies the PeaceHealth mission, values and customer service philosophy of PeaceHealth in job performance and in relationships to others. Provides leadership and direction to patient care areas to ensure that patient care services are coordinated across staff, functions, activities, and sites in order to improve patient care and clinical outcomes. Serves as the Chief Nursing Executive with authority and responsibility for establishing standards for patient care, nursing practice, and nursing performance across all environments in the region. Has divisional responsibility for the organization, administration and operation of Patient Care Services. Works closely with leaders and staff throughout the organization to maximize operational efficiencies and to develop business and growth opportunities. Participates in organizational development planning and deployment activities as part of the organization's strategic plan. Serves as an administrative representative to Medical Staff Committees as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Plans/directs the delivery of patient care services consistent with PeaceHealth Ketchikan Medical Center strategic plans, mission and values, and continuous improvement process.
Leads, directs and administers key patient care services to ensure exceptional medicine and compassionate care is delivered at PeaceHealth Ketchikan Medical Center.
Creates strategic and operational plans that guarantee organizational viability and sound business practices.
Collaborates with nursing staff, medical staff and other disciplines in the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and services. Establishes and approves nursing standards of patient care and standards of nursing practice. Collaborates with executives, medical staff, and other clinical and managerial leaders in organization wide performance improvement activities. Assures assigned services are in compliance with all standards and regulations set forth by the Department of Health, DNV, and other regulatory agencies.
Collaborates with leaders and medical staff to formulate strategies and/or initiatives, to advance clinical quality to achieve best practice in patient satisfaction, patient safety, and clinical outcomes.
Leads the development, oversight and enhancements of assigned service lines aligned with the strategic plan, market share objectives and industry trends.
Participates with leaders from the Governing Board, Executive Team, Medical Executive Team, medical staff and clinical leaders in problem solving/decision making throughout the network. Participates in the strategic and long range planning of the organization.
Develops, implements and manages operating and capital budgets of assigned services demonstrating effective stewardship of resources and achieving annual goals.
Maintains and develops sounds financial management practices and productivity improvements in community operations.
Contributes to management education and professional development of staff, students and colleagues through the sharing of knowledge and skills as a role model/mentor. Provides leadership to develop, promote, and implement a nursing professional practice environment.
Performs other duties as assigned.
The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $174,043 to $217,858. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, seniority, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
Accredited School of Medicine required.
Master's Degree Required: Masters of Nursing, Nursing Administration or Healthcare Administration.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 7 years experience in healthcare, with significant progressive management experience in a 25+ bed hospital/health system.
Minimum of 5 years current management experience.
Ability to effectively manage a variety of services and disciplines, including clinical, supportive, and administrative.
Preferred experience with collective bargaining units.
CREDENTIALS
Required: Registered Nurse - Alaska
Preferred: Alaska Licensed Nursing Home Administrator
REQUIRED SKILLS
Excellent skills in marketing, employee development, and medical staff collaboration.
Strong background in TQM, CQI, RPI, and other methodologies to improve healthcare delivery and outcomes.
