Position Summary
The Nursing Director – Emergency Department is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of all nursing and related services within the Emergency Department. This role oversees day-to-day management, ensures regulatory compliance and promotes high-quality, compassionate care in a fast-paced clinical setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise and evaluate nursing staff to ensure high performance and patient-centered care.
- Foster a positive, safe and collaborative work environment.
- Implement strategies to improve staff retention and reduce turnover.
- Ensure all clinical managers are trained on updated policies and procedures.
- Develop and manage departmental budgets effectively.
- Assign patient care responsibilities to nursing managers and coordinators.
- Promote excellence in clinical outcomes through critical thinking, leadership and adherence to best practices.
Qualifications
- Education:
- Master’s degree in Nursing required.
- OR Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and Master’s degree in a related field required.
- Licensure & Certifications:
- Registered Nurse (RN) – Massachusetts license required.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred.
- Experience:
- 3–5 years of nursing management experience required.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong leadership, communication and organizational skills.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a clinical environment.
- In-depth knowledge of healthcare regulations and standards.
