Director, Nursing—Pediatrics/Pediatric Oncology/Pediatric Intensive Care
Make a Difference Where It Matters Most
Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital, a proud member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth), is seeking a dynamic and experienced director of nursing to lead our pediatrics, pediatric oncology, and pediatric intensive care service lines.
This is more than a leadership role; it’s a chance to guide extraordinary care for the region’s most vulnerable patients. If you’re a transformational nursing leader with a passion for pediatrics, deep operational know-how, and the courage to inspire change, your next chapter starts here.
Leadership Role Overview
As director, you'll be the driving force behind the day-to-day operations of pediatric nursing care. Reporting to the Sr. Director/Vice President of Patient Care Services, you’ll:
Lead clinical and administrative functions for pediatrics, pediatric oncology, and PICU.
Supervise, coach and inspire nursing and support staff across units.
Develop, implement and evaluate care programs and performance standards.
Collaborate with department heads and interdisciplinary teams to streamline patient care.
Champion continuous improvement, quality outcomes, and patient/family satisfaction.
Engage in peer reviews, staff evaluations, labor-management relations and strategic planning.
Help shape policies, staffing models, education programs and budgets.
When the sr. director is away, you’re in command—ensuring high standards of care never skip a beat.
What We’re Looking For
Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in New York State
Bachelor’s degree in nursing required, master’s in nursing, administration or related field strongly preferred
Six-plus years of pediatric nursing experience, with at least three years in a supervisory/leadership capacity
A brain for operations, a heart for children, and the grit to juggle it all
Knowledge of NYS Nurse Practice Act, hospital and civil service personnel policies, accreditation requirements, and labor practices
Comfortable navigating complex systems, staffing needs, and regulatory demands
Fluent in clinical systems, spreadsheets, email, and the fine art of prioritization
Our Commitment to You
We don’t just care for kids—we care for our team. In addition to an excellent salary and compensation package, you will enjoy a robust benefits package that includes:
Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance
Retirement Savings Plans
Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)
Generous PTO & Holidays
Tuition Reimbursement
Growth, purpose & pride in a mission that matters
A great place to live and work.
