General Summary:
The Director of Professional Excellence and Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) serves as an organizational expert in leading and directing professional excellence in accordance with the ANCC Magnet framework. In this role, the nurse leader will serve as the enterprise program leader for Magnet and leader of the nursing quality program.
As a member of the Bayhealth nursing executive team, the Director, Professional Excellence and EBP will lead and guide nursing and interprofessional teams through Magnet redesignation. This nurse leader will also serve as an advisor, in tandem with the CNE, to non-nursing leaders, including the executive team and the interprofessional leadership council.
The Director, Professional Excellence and EBP provides guidance and direction within all professional governance activities. This leader will provide oversight to the clinical ladder program, and direct the nursing quality program, analytics and framework deployment in tandem with the Patient Care Services leadership team. The director will provide resources and leadership around professional recognition activities. The director is a culture champion and is a prominent role model of our values and positive culture.
The Director, Professional Excellence and EBP evaluates, plans, and implements enhancements to our professional practice model and to our nursing care delivery system in collaboration with clinical nurses and leadership.
The Director, Professional Excellence and EBP provides guidance and leadership to the evidence-based practices within the patient care services teams. This leader will oversee, direct and support the activities of the clinical nurse specialist team and will oversee the coordination of nursing research and scientific inquiry.
Responsibilities:
Provides leadership and guidance to organization and nursing leadership to achieve Magnet re-designation. 2. Provides leadership and ongoing coaching and mentoring of nursing staff and leaders in the delivery of professional governance. 3. Provides leadership and oversight for coordinating the ANCC Magnet application for re-designation and for the required reporting to the Magnet Program office; serves as the organizational liaison with ANCC Magnet Program office. 4. Monitors, analyzes, and submits outcomes for nurse sensitive indicators. 5. Develops programs and processes to improve performance in nurse sensitive indicators and other quality metrics. 6. Serves as the representative to the system quality team in interprofessional performance improvement activities including Leapfrog, Premier, and top 100 initiatives. 7. Interprets and applies the Magnet model across nursing practice areas and serves as a resource to leaders and staff in the application of the Magnet Model. 8. Provides oversight and supervision of the Outcomes Coordinator and clinical nurse specialist team. 9. Provides oversight to the nurse scientist in residence or manages the university or consultant relationship to incorporate these services into nursing at Bayhealth. 10. Coordinates and oversees shared governance council activities to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing excellence standards supporting application development and submission. 11. Assures continual compliance with regulations and accreditation standards through monitoring activities, including the design, and implementation of strategies to enhance shared decision-making processes to meet these standards. 12. Participates in the development of both long and short-term goals for nursing and ensures that the goals are consistent with the goal and objectives of the nursing and organizational strategic plan and Magnet 13. Leads change efforts in collaboration with nurse leaders and staff utilizing the ANCC framework of excellence to create and implement innovative staff engagement, systems, and processes. 14. Coordinates all professional recognition and awards activities. 15. Directs professional nurse role development at all levels of nursing professional practice. 16. Coordinates and supports submission of nursing presentations, posters, and publications. 17. All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.
Education: Master Degree Nursing
Credential(s): Registered Nurse or compact-state RN license; Basic Life Support; Certification related to the position, if applicable.
Experience:
Required: Five years in acute setting; knowledge of Magnet program standards; knowledge of LEAN methodology; knowledge of Performance Improvement activities.
