Director, Newborn Intensive Care Units St. Louis Children’s Hospital

St. Louis Children’s Hospital is seeking a Director, Newborn Intensive Care Units, who will have responsibility for delivery of patient care and facilitation of all activities within the newborn intensive service line at St. Louis Children’s Hospital. This leader will have oversight of a 150 bed NICU and will lead all of the daily clinical activities in the NICU to promote high quality and efficient care of patients. This leader will develop care practices that assure the highest level of safety and quality, patient satisfaction and strong culture of teamwork among nursing, medical and support personnel.
This Director will report to the Associate Chief Nursing Officer at St. Louis Children’s Hospital and will oversee a team of approximately 340 FTE’s.
Position Requirements The Director, Newborn Intensive Care Units will possess the following combination of skills and experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience with at least 2 years of leadership experience in leading a NICU, to include supervisory experience, and a track record of success in significant roles of progressive responsibility.
Master’s degree in Nursing.
Comfortable working in a complex matrix organization.
Strong sense of mission and an active, engaged leadership style.
Operationally savvy with a problem-solving mindset, high EQ and a high focus on metrics.
Clearly knowledgeable in their field of expertise yet able to demonstrate humility and exceptional skills in developing and forging successful working relationships with executive leadership, physicians, and other key functional stakeholders.
Strategic thinker with the ability to partner with executive and physician leadership in strategic and tactical planning and implementation.
Technically savvy with strong quantitative/analytical acumen.
Highly successful in driving change within an organization.
Excellent interpersonal, problem solving, analytic, and oral and written communication skills. In particular, the ability to foster teamwork and coordination of care among diverse stakeholders is essential.
Adaptable and flexible style of collaborating up and down and across.
Proven ability to develop excellent relationships, quickly gain credibility, influence and partner with their team, business leaders and the clinical community.
